straight curves

In this series, I explore the paradox of a curvature emerging from a collection of entirely straight lines. The works focus on the tension between what appears to be visible and what it truly is: an illusion of fluidity arising from strict linearity.

The shape that presents itself – a bend, a potential movement – is composed solely of discrete, linear elements that together suggest continuity. Within this tension between the geometrically irreconcilable and the visually convincing lies, for me, the conceptual center of gravity of the series.

The curvature functions as an emergent phenomenon: not drawn but formed through accumulation, through the interaction of many identical gestures. It stands for the moment when order generates complexity and the predictable yields unforeseen qualities.

These drawings explore how perception is misled by the mass of simple elements, how the mind reads a flowing form where no actual curve exists. In this way, an image emerges that balances between construction and illusion, between strict structure and the appearance of organic growth.
